Israeli Claims
Israel stated it intends to maintain a security zone along the Lebanese border—free of Hezbollah—in order to protect northern Israeli communities from rockets and drones. This policy means Israeli troops will not withdraw from the area.
Humanitarian Impact
In the occupied territories, predominantly Shia villages have been completely destroyed by air strikes and demolitions. Human rights groups assert that the systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure could represent a war crime.
