In his interview, Zelensky remarked, “No-one has officially offered it to us,” highlighting that NATO's consideration of Ukraine's membership in a fragmented state is theoretical, given that there is a lack of concrete proposals. He also pointed out that guarantees of safety are paramount, stating, "Only NATO membership could offer that kind of guarantee." Despite an expectation of potential resolutions stemming from a concerted ally determination, the current geopolitical landscape shows little sign of easing tensions, with Russia maintaining its aggressive stance toward Ukraine. As energy infrastructure comes under assault, the struggle for Ukrainian independence continues amid ongoing military hostilities.

Zelensky Proposes NATO Membership for Ukraine’s Controlled Territories to Halt War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicates a potential path to ending the war by suggesting NATO membership for unoccupied parts of Ukraine, contingent upon inclusive agreements.
In a recent interview, President Zelensky of Ukraine expressed the notion that NATO could play a crucial role in navigating the ongoing war by providing a security guarantee to territories currently under Ukrainian control. He asserted that if NATO membership were offered to the entirety of Ukraine, he would readily consider it; however, such a proposal has yet to be issued. Zelensky emphasized that urging NATO to extend membership just to portions of Ukraine would be problematic, as it could imply recognition of Russian-occupied areas as separate from Ukraine. He highlighted the necessity for robust security arrangements, stating that ceasefires without safeguards could be perilous. Meanwhile, discussions in Western circles about implementing a model of NATO membership similar to that of West Germany have been ongoing, yet no formal proposals have emerged. Russia’s President Putin remains steadfast in his ambitions regarding Ukraine, making any NATO involvement appear highly unlikely at this stage.
