Poland detains suspect in plot to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk

Polish police announced that Jacek Dobrzynski has been detained in the Lower Silesia region after an electronic mail detailing a potential attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz was forwarded to the State Protection Service.
The interior ministry said it had received credible information and convened a special meeting to assess the threat, which officials described as "deadly serious." The suspect, a Polish national, is believed to have planned an assassination attempt that could have endangered both leaders.
Tusk expressed gratitude for the "swift and decisive action," while the Special Services Coordinator warned that "the likelihood of the threats being carried out" was high. Security authorities emphasized the importance of protecting national leaders amid a period of heightened political tension.
This arrest follows recent incidents that have raised concerns about political violence in Poland, as the government seeks to strengthen its security measures and public confidence.
