American rapper Kanye West has announced the postponement of an upcoming concert in Marseille, France until further notice. This decision comes just a week after his appearance at the Wireless Festival in the UK, which was cancelled following the government's decision to prevent him from entering the country.

French media report that Interior Minister Laurent Nunez was considering a ban for West’s 11 June gig, with sources indicating that he was highly determined to prohibit the event due to ongoing controversies surrounding the rapper.

West, who has faced backlash for a series of antisemitic and racist remarks over the years, stated in his announcement: After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice, expressing concern about the impact of his controversies on his fans.

He elaborated in a subsequent message, I take full responsibility for what's mine but I don't want to put my fans in the middle of it. My fans are everything to me. Looking forward to the next shows.

Originally, West was scheduled to headline at several European venues this summer, including Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, and was also set to perform in New Delhi in late May. However, his status remains uncertain, as French authorities are exploring options to prevent his performance amid public safety concerns stemming from his divisive comments.

As the discussion continues, the UK government's refusal to allow his entry was based on a statement asserting that his presence would not contribute positively to the public good, considering his previously made controversial remarks, including statements made in 2022 regarding Jewish people.

With this cancellation, it remains to be seen how another tour intended to revive West's public image will unfold amidst global reactions to his past actions.
