Milo Yiannopoulos Detained by ICE
British right‑wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has reportedly been detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a record discovered in the agency’s inmate registry. The 41‑year‑old, former Breitbart News editor, is listed in Louisiana.
Yiannopoulos rose to prominence during the 2016 United States election, where he chaired the “Gays for Trump” rally at the Republican National Convention and later voiced support for President Trump’s immigration restrictions. However, in March 2024 he publicly criticized Trump’s direction, accusing the leader of being bought by foreign interests.
The detention comes amid growing scrutiny of the right‑wing commentator’s past remarks. His outspoken comments on Muslims, transgender individuals, Black Lives Matter, feminists and gay communities—which he has called “ex‑gay” himself—have drawn accusations of hate speech. A 2017 incident in which footage surfaced of him seemingly condoning pedophilia led to his removal from CPAC and resignation from Breitbart.
Despite the controversy, Yiannopoulos denies allegations of criminal behaviour and claims his remarks were misunderstandings of his personal experiences. He has repeatedly stated that he does not belong to the alt‑right, though he has characterized the movement as “energizing and exciting.”
Neither ICE nor Yiannopoulos has issued an official statement about the alleged detention, leaving the circumstances and potential charges unknown. The case underscores the complex intersection of freedom of speech, political activism, and immigration enforcement in contemporary U.S. politics.
