At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight more injured after missile debris hit a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The PRCS stated that shrapnel struck the salon located in the town of Beit Awwa, near Hebron, in the southern West Bank.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon along with other locations in the area.
This tragic event occurred shortly after the Israeli military announced that Iran had fired missiles toward Israel, which the military claimed it was engaged in efforts to intercept.
The three deceased have been identified as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 17, Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, 50, and Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh, 36.
The PRCS deployed a team of response units, including at least five ambulances, to the site, where they found multiple casualties and injuries. Victims were transported to a local hospital, with some sustaining critical and moderate wounds.
Initially, the PRCS reported four fatalities but later revised the death toll to three. They indicated that their crews faced significant hurdles in reaching the location due to the closure of iron gates, which critically impacted the timing available to assist the injured.
The BBC has reached out to the Israeli military for comments on this unfortunate incident.
