Canada wildfire smoke spreads over Ontario and northern U.S. states
Smoke and an unmistakable orange haze from a wave of active wildfires in Canada has stretched across Ontario and traveled northward towards U.S. states such as Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre reports a current total of 838 wildfires cutting across the country, all contributing to the rampant smoke plumes.
Officials publicly warn that, although the haze is expected to be less severe than the 2023 Quebec wildfire “smoke blanket” that blanketed the U.S. East Coast, the air‑quality impact remains significant for residents and sensitive populations.
