A search and rescue operation involving multiple coastguard vessels, a civilian boat, and a helicopter was underway shortly after the incident. Among the injured were seven children, a pregnant woman, and two coastguard officers. Initially, four fatalities were reported, but as updates came through, ten more bodies were recovered, raising the death toll to 14.
