Authorities have intensified efforts to locate Nancy Guthrie, the mother of news anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for over a week. In a significant development, a person of interest has been detained by police in connection to the case.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the individual was taken into custody during a traffic stop. Police have since executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence in Rio Rico, south of Tucson, Arizona.
Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 years old, was reportedly abducted from her home in Catalina Foothills. This incident has led to distressing appeals from her family on social media, where they emphasize her fragile health and urgent need for medication.
Recently, the FBI released images and video footage of a masked individual tampering with surveillance cameras at Guthrie’s front door on the night she disappeared. The footage shows the figure approaching the residence before obscuring the camera lens, raising alarms about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have actively urged the public to assist in the search, highlighting the potential health risks their mother faces without proper medical care. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are looking into ransom notes that might have been sent by her abductors.
Law enforcement is offering a reward of $50,000 for any information leading to Nancy's safe return.
