NEW YORK (AP) — In a remarkable turn of events at LaGuardia Airport, a flight attendant survived being ejected from an Air Canada plane that collided with a fire truck during landing, as reported by her daughter on Monday.

It’s a total miracle, Sarah Lepine told TVA Nouvelles, highlighting her mother, Solange Tremblay's, brush with death.

Tremblay sustained multiple fractures to her leg and will require surgery, yet she is otherwise stable. Aviation safety experts credit her survival to the robust four-point restraint seat used for crew members.

I’m still trying to understand how all this happened, but she definitely has a guardian angel watching over her, Lepine stated, expressing her disbelief at the incident.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, involved an aircraft carrying over 70 passengers as it landed, colliding with a fire truck responding to another emergency. The collision led to the destruction of the plane's nose, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and copilot.

Aviation safety expert Jeff Guzzetti called Tremblay’s survival a miracle, especially considering the severity of the crash. He explained that the flight attendant’s seat is designed to endure more force than standard passenger seats to assist in evacuations post-crash.

In historical context, incidents like these emphasize the importance of safety measures in aviation, with previous occurrences pointing to the effectiveness of safety gear.
