Egg Invitational: Kosovo Opposition MP Throws Eggs at Acting Prime Minister

In a startling act of protest, opposition MP Time Kadrijaj from the Alliance party hurled at least four eggs in the direction of Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti during a parliamentary session in Pristina on Saturday morning. The viral incident, captured on the Parliament’s live feed, forced lawmakers and police officers to intervene immediately while Kurti retreated to the speaker’s chair.

Kurti had just announced that he required additional time to negotiate with other parties before proposing a candidate for the speaker’s post, a decision that appeared to fuel the opposition’s frustration. The egg throw was symbolic of the broader political stalemate in the country following the June snap election that left multiple parties scrambling for influence.

Police later secured the scene and the MP was escorted out of the chamber. No injuries were reported, but the episode prompted a swift statement from the Kosovar government condemning the act as “unacceptable and below the standards of civilized discourse.”
