TUCSON, Ariz. — The search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, has intensified as authorities continue to investigate her apparent kidnapping, following alarming ransom notes demanding money for her safe return.
The investigation has now entered its second week, with the whereabouts of the 84-year-old remaining unknown. Family members are reportedly prepared to pay for her return, with Savannah Guthrie making an emotional plea in a recent video, urging the kidnappers to release her mother.
“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. We value this deeply, and we will pay,” Savannah stated.
As the situation captured national attention, including remarks from figures such as former President Donald Trump, community members are also engaging in the search. Online sleuths have taken to social media, sharing theories and tips in hopes of finding Nancy.
Authorities have been conducting searches in the Tucson neighborhood and nearby areas. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department indicated that they have yet to identify any suspects or persons of interest in the case.
Investigators believe Nancy was taken against her will from her home after she was last seen on January 31. Reports indicate that blood found on her front porch matched her DNA, raising concerns about her well-being. Additionally, due to her need for daily medication, officials express growing worries about her health condition.
Over the past week, multiple ransom letters demanding money for Nancy’s release have been sent to the press. While officials have not confirmed the authenticity of these letters, they are taking all tips and leads seriously.
