TUCSON, Ariz. — Savannah Guthrie, the beloved host of NBC’s 'Today' show, has made an urgent plea for public help as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, intensifies. The 84-year-old mother has been missing since January 31 and is feared to have been abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
In a series of emotional Instagram videos, Savannah and her family have reached out to the public, expressing their desperation and the family’s willingness to pay a ransom for her safe return. However, as they enter another week of anguish, Savannah has shifted her focus from pleading for her mother's return to gathering clues for investigators.
The FBI confirmed that they have not been made aware of any ongoing communication with potential kidnappers. Despite previous claims of ransom letters, law enforcement has so far been unable to identify any suspects in the case.
“We need your help,” Savannah urged in her plea, advocating for nationwide vigilance. “If you see anything, please report it.”
As the investigation unfolds, FBI resources including a 24-hour command post have been established to coordinate efforts. Savannah has conveyed the family's belief that Nancy is still alive and able to hear their cries for help.
Recent activity has caught the attention of the public and law enforcement alike, drawing comments and concerns from citizens across the country, including individuals who play active roles in online sleuthing communities.
Authorities are concerned about Nancy’s health given her medical history, which includes the need for daily medication, and they emphasize the urgency in finding her quickly.
As the community rallies around the Guthrie family, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to work diligently on the case, following up on leads and tips as they come in.
Despite the frustration and uncertainty, Savannah remains hopeful, insisting that their mother will be returned safely.
