The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been arrested by police on suspicion of assault, just days before he goes on trial in Oslo facing 38 charges, including the rape of four women.
Marius Borg Høiby, 29, was remanded in custody for four weeks. Police stated that the recent allegations involve wielding a knife and violating a restraining order, with concerns regarding the risk of reoffending.
This arrest on Sunday marks the fourth time he has been detained since August 2024 after being accused of assaulting a woman he had a relationship with, although he has denied the most serious charges and admitted to some lesser ones.
This incident adds to a growing list of controversies surrounding the royal family, particularly as Norwegians grapple with recent revelations about Mette-Marit's connections to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which she has described as a "poor judgement."

Norway's Prime Minister commented on the issue, agreeing with Mette-Marit's admission of neglect regarding her dealings with Epstein.
Despite being a non-royal, Borg Høiby's turmoil reflects significantly on the royal family, as Crown Prince Haakon expressed distress for the victims involved in his step-son's ongoing legal troubles.
As concerns grow for Mette-Marit's health, with her suffering from pulmonary fibrosis and awaiting a lung transplant, the royal family is facing intense scrutiny during this distressing time.
