Egypt’s Interior Ministry detains suspects behind a fraud that used fabricated court scenes and fake judge identities to swindle citizens.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry has charged two individuals with orchestrating a fraud that mimicked court proceedings through social media. The suspects posed as judges, claiming they could secure housing for victims, and staged fake courtroom footage to lend credibility. Authorities seized forged judicial sash, identity cards, and a firearm from the main accused. Court staff were also detained while being questioned.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry announced the arrest of two suspects after a crackdown on a fraud operation that masqueraded as judicial proceedings.

The duo, an unemployed man and a student, lived in Cairo and Giza and claimed they could “allocate housing” from government agencies. They exploited social media posts featuring staged court scenes and fake judge credentials to mislead victims.

Police seized a forged judicial sash, a carry‑in firearm and identity cards bearing a counterfeit judge title from the main accuser. He admitted filming photos and videos inside a courthouse while wearing the sash to boost his authenticity.

The police further detained court employees who had been implicated in aiding the operation, and the suspects are slated for an expedited criminal trial.
