Multiple Sydney Swans players are under police referral following a post‑match incident in Melbourne.
After a win at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, senior club officials conveyed that several players were referred to Victoria Police over an “alleged incident.” The exact nature of the event remains undisclosed.
Concurrently, the police force is investigating a report of a sexual assault that allegedly took place at a hotel on Wellington Parade in East Melbourne early Sunday morning. The investigation is still active and details have not yet been released.
Club chief executive Matthew Pavlich emphasized that the organization is piecing together the events and remained silent about any potential arrests or specific allegations. He stated that the situation was “extremely shocking and disappointing” for the club.
Officials from the Australian Football League confirmed that the Swans had alerted the league about the matter and that the situation is now under the jurisdiction of Victoria Police.
