Tragic Death of French Streamer Raises Questions Amid Autopsy Findings
Investigation into the death of content creator Jean Pormanove reveals no signs of trauma, complicating the circumstances surrounding his passing.
An autopsy conducted on Raphaël Graven, known in the online streaming community as Jean Pormanove, has revealed that his death was not caused by trauma, according to information released by the prosecutor overseeing the case. The 46-year-old content creator, who livestreamed on the platform Kick, was discovered deceased at a residence located in Contes, a village to the north of Nice, earlier this week.
French government official Clara Chappaz expressed profound concern over Graven's passing, categorizing it as an "absolute horror," and announced that a judicial investigation has been launched to explore the circumstances surrounding his death. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli reported on Thursday that preliminary findings from medical examiners indicated the cause of death was not "traumatic in origin" and ruled out the involvement of a third party.
Inspections conducted by forensic doctors returned no indications of internal or external traumatic injuries or burns, revealing only minor bruises and healed lesions on the body. The early assessment suggests that medical or toxicological factors may be the probable causes of Graven's death. Further tests have been ordered, with indications that the streamer might have suffered from a heart condition and was managing a thyroid issue prior to his death.
In the wake of this discovery, a spokesperson for Kick communicated to the BBC that the company is "urgently reviewing" the events leading to Graven's death. Local news outlets have reported that the streamer experienced episodes of violence and sleep deprivation during his live streams and ultimately died in his sleep while on air. Following the tragedy, prosecutor Martinelli stated that police have interviewed witnesses present during the incident and have confiscated equipment, including video footage, as part of the ongoing investigation to shed light on the events that preceded his death.
