Former Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ bodyguard, Joseph Sherman, filed a civil lawsuit against Thalia Graves and her attorney Glory Allred on Friday, alleging defamation and emotional distress in the Southern District of New York. This action comes in response to a lawsuit initiated by Graves and Allred on September 24, 2024, where Sherman was named a defendant alongside Combs. Sherman claims that Graves attempted to blackmail him, citing various text messages in his complaint.
According to Sherman, he ceased working for Combs in 1999 and asserts he was not present during the alleged rape by Combs in 2001, having never personally met Graves. Sherman’s suit emphasizes that Graves tried to manipulate him into providing false testimony against Combs, stating, “if you will be my witness against Diddy, then my attorneys will leave you out of any proceedings … I will make sure the state does not pick up charges or rape charges against you.”
While Sherman is not alone in alleging Graves’ actions may be part of broader misconduct, critics have raised concerns about Gloria Allred, suggesting she has been involved in a similar pattern of dubious legal motives. Critics have noted that Allred is the only attorney suing Combs who has faced a counter-suit, casting further doubt on her current claims.
The controversy surrounding Allred is not new, as past incidents have questioned her motives and integrity in high-profile cases including those of Michael Jackson and Scott Peterson. Patterns of alleged witness tampering and other misconduct persistently shadow her legal actions.
Allred’s connections with notable figures in Her orbit, including attorney Mark Geragos, have led to claims of criminal connection and racketeering, causing speculation about an “unholy trinity” involving her, Geragos, and former private investigator Anthony Pellicano. Allegations have surfaced suggesting this trio may procure witnesses through coercion and intimidation, raising severe ethical concerns about their legal practices.
Allred’s past also carries allegations of racketeering and misconduct leading to investigations by the State Bar of California, including claims of dishonesty and corruption. Notably, high-profile accusations from individuals like billionaire Alki David have implicated Allred in serious legal scandals.
Given the incendiary nature of these claims, many observers are calling for a broader investigation into Allred’s actions and affiliations. Sherman’s attorney, Darnell D. Crosland, asserted the necessity to consider the countless men falsely accused, emphasizing how financially motivated claims undermine genuine victims of sexual assault.
As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the courts will interpret these complex allegations and their implications on ongoing discussions surrounding the #MeToo movement.
