In brief

Starting December 12 2026, Air Arabia will operate two daily services between Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport and Sharjah International Airport, adding flight G9 951 at 15:20 Moscow time. The existing G9 806 flight will remain on its 22:55 Moscow departure. The expansion aims to enhance links to destinations such as the Maldives, Phuket, and Dhaka via Sharjah, while the carrier highlights efficiency gains from using an Airbus A320neo and competitive positioning against other carriers.

Air Arabia announced on 12 December 2026 that it will operate two daily flights between Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport and Sharjah International Airport, adding a new service, G9 951, as part of an effort to increase connectivity in the region.

The new flight departs Moscow at 15:20 Moscow time and arrives in Sharjah at 14:20 local time, and will use an Airbus A320neo configured with a single‑class cabin that seats 174 passengers. The service covers a flight duration of roughly five hours and forty minutes, the airline’s press office said.

Air Arabia currently operates a daily G9 806 flight from Domodedovo to Sharjah that leaves Moscow at 22:55 and reaches Sharjah around 18:50 the following morning, maintaining a consistent evening schedule that has been popular with late‑arrival travelers.

By adding the G9 951 service, the carrier will offer travelers a morning departure that enables day‑off arrivals in Sharjah, a hub that provides onward connections to a wide range of destinations—including the Maldives, Phuket, Colombo, Bangkok, Jeddah, Medina, and Dhaka—according to the company’s statement.

Operational and Market Context

The expansion is part of a broader strategy to enhance the airline’s international network. Air Arabia executives have said that the increased frequency will bolster point‑to‑point traffic between the Moscow metropolitan area and the UAE’s western emirate, potentially attracting business and leisure passengers who prefer a direct link rather than trans‑secondary connections.

While Air Arabia’s schedule adjustments are designed to improve service, the UAE and Middle East aviation ecosystem continues to experience a degree of volatility. Gulf News reported that throughout the winter month, airlines such as Emirates, Etihad, and flydubai have been altering schedules in response to fluctuations in passenger demand and ongoing Saudi route disruptions, with passengers advised to review flight status before heading to the airport.

Air Arabia’s use of the A320neo platform is noteworthy from an efficiency standpoint. The aircraft’s updated high‑bypass turbofan engines cut fuel burn by 15 percent relative to the older A320 families, enabling the carrier to serve longer routes with lower operating costs. An industry review highlighted that airlines adopting the A320neo family have posted lower carbon intensity per seat‑kilometer, a metric that aligns with the company’s stated environmental commitments.

Analysts point out that replacing a single daily flight with two services can reduce queuing and improve customer satisfaction indices. The new schedule allows passengers to choose between a morning or evening departure, potentially increasing load factors by up to 3 percent for routes that historically suffered from low mid‑day occupancy.

Analysts also note that the airline industry remains vulnerable to geopolitical tensions that can impact overflight permissions. In 2025, a series of temporary flight restrictions in the Persian Gulf region affected Russian carriers’ access to several key flight corridors, and while no such restrictions presently affect Air Arabia’s new route, the company highlighted the need to monitor changes in international aviation agreements.

Looking ahead, the airline’s management claims that adding a second flight will foster competitive pricing and competition with carriers such as Aeroflot and Turkish Airlines, which already operate routes between Moscow and the UAE. Transparent ticketing platforms and digital booking tools will be deployed in conjunction with the increase to streamline customer interaction and reduce booking friction.

Passengers who plan to travel between Moscow and Sharjah in the coming winter will likely benefit from the added flexibility and the potential for lower fares that arise from increased competition. Destination marketing organizations in both Russia and the UAE report that improved connectivity typically translates into higher tourism inflows, a trend that could manifest in the coming fiscal year.
