Washington Wildfires Spread Across 250,000 Acres, Evacuations Issued

Wildfires across more than 250,000 acres have forced evacuations and caused power outages in Washington state’s Spokane area, officials said.

The state’s governor, Bob Ferguson, declared a statewide emergency and a burn ban on Saturday morning, urging residents to stay alert.

“Our state is facing a very serious situation with multiple fires, and our hearts go out to Washingtonians who are losing their homes,” Ferguson remarked.

Officials confirmed that no injuries or fatalities have been reported so far, though the intensity of the flames continues to grow.

Spokane, Washington’s second‑most populous city, remains on high alert as the fire front advances.
