Ukraine Strikes Deep Inside Russia

Ukrainian forces launched FP‑5 Flamingo cruise missiles at the VNIIR‑Progress plant in Cheboksary, a critical Russian drone and missile factory, more than 900 km from the front line, as confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The FP‑5 carries a 1,150‑kg warhead and reportedly has a 3,000‑km range, allowing it to strike major Russian cities including Moscow. The strike is a rare example of Ukrainian forces penetrating deep into Russian territory.
Local officials in the Chuvash Republic reported three injuries, while the state did not confirm structural damage to the plant. Nevertheless, Ukrainian officials assert that the facility supplies parts for drones and missiles used by Russia on the front.
Earlier, Ukraine also targeted the occupied port of Mariupol, an oil refinery in Samara, and a Black Sea tanker. The country’s military has intensified drone strikes on key Russian sites across the front in recent months.
Russia’s air defence reported shooting down 326 Ukrainian drones, while the Ukrainian air force claimed to intercept 181 out of 207 launched at them and achieved 21 direct hits in fourteen locations. The war’s strategic scene continues to evolve as both sides adjust their tactics.
