Golfer Tiger Woods has been charged with driving under the influence after a car crash in Florida, police say.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office stated that the 15-time major champion has also been charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Sheriff John Budensiek reported that Woods, 50, rolled his Land Rover after clipping a cleaning truck on Jupiter Island on Friday.
The golfer reportedly crawled out of the passenger side of his vehicle, passed a breathalyser test post-crash but declined a urine test.
Authorities confirmed no injuries occurred during the incident, which took place around 2 PM local time (7 PM GMT) on Beach Road.
Sheriff Budensiek explained: The DUI investigators arrived at the scene and observed signs of impairment in Mr. Woods.
He continued, Various tests were conducted, and Woods explained his medical history, which was taken into consideration. However, he was taken into custody after roadside tests showed signs of impairment.
Despite the breathalyser test yielding a zero reading, Woods refused to undergo a urinary analysis test, leading to further charges. Sheriff Budensiek remarked that Woods was compliant during the process but sought to avoid self-incrimination.
President Trump commented on the situation, expressing concern for Woods, calling him a close friend. Woods will be held briefly at the Martin County jail before being released on bond. The BBC has reached out to Woods' representatives for further comment.
