Romanian prosecutors have charged new sex crimes against social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate.
The indictment alleges the brothers earned more than $1.2 million, £888,000, by coercing a 15‑year‑old girl to perform sex acts over video chats.
Andrew, 39, faces charges of trafficking minors, money laundering and sexual activity with a minor. Tristan, 38, is accused of complicity in child trafficking and laundering proceeds.
The duo, who are currently jailed in Miami awaiting extradition to the UK over other offences, deny all allegations, arguing their online personas are fictional.
Lawyer Eugen Constantin Vidineac said the new indictment is merely a procedural step and the brothers remain innocent until proven guilty, citing irregularities in the previous case that stopped a trial.
DIICOT also seeks confiscation of the brothers’ luxury cars, valued at £710,000, alleging the vehicles served as money‑laundering channels.
Despite persistent investigations since 2022, the indictment still requires judicial review before any trial can commence, and it is unclear if Romanian authorities will seek extradition from the United States.
