In a harrowing display of endurance, Chandika Shrestha, 64, was found alive in her home after a wall of ice, rock and mud crushed a valley in the Nuwakot district of Nepal on 5 September.
The rescue was carried out by the Nepal Armed Police Force, who discovered her on the fourth floor of a partially buried house. She was immediately transported by helicopter to a hospital in Kathmandu for medical care.
This finding comes more than ten days after the catastrophic disaster that has left thousands seeking shelter and hope for rescue. Authorities continue to work around the clock to recover survivors and provide aid.
