Online retail giant Shein has announced a ban on all sex dolls worldwide following accusations regarding the presence of products with a childlike appearance on its platform.

The controversy intensified when a French consumer watchdog highlighted listings that raised significant concerns about potential child exploitation. In light of this, Shein confirmed that it would permanently ban all seller accounts linked to illegal or non-compliant sex-doll products.

In conjunction with the ban, Shein has also removed its adult products category as a precautionary measure. The company stated that it has eliminated all listings and images of sex dolls from its site and will conduct a comprehensive review to establish stricter regulations for sellers on the platform.

Executive chairman Donald Tang emphasized, The fight against child exploitation is non-negotiable for Shein. He vowed to trace the origin of these listings and take decisive action against responsible parties.

The Paris prosecutor's office is currently investigating multiple online retail platforms, including Shein, following reports from France's Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). The investigation has been referred to the OFMIN agency, which focuses on preventing violence against minors.

As protests emerged outside a planned Shein outlet in Paris, France's finance minister threatened a national ban if the company did not rectify the situation. Shein has previously faced scrutiny over its impact on the environment and workers' conditions.
