MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The city of Minneapolis has revealed a video that captures a chase and confrontation linked to a nonfatal shooting involving federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers during a crackdown on immigration in January. The distanced footage, captured by a city-owned camera, illustrates part of the incident involving two Venezuelan men and their interactions with the chase officers.

One of these men was shot during the confrontation, and despite initial charges, federal authorities soon dropped all allegations against them. This decision prompted an investigation into the conduct of the ICE officers involved, particularly regarding whether they provided false testimony about the incident.

The footage’s release followed reports questioning why federal investigators took weeks to view evidence that was available to them shortly after the shooting. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey stated that it contradicted the federal government’s account of the event, highlighting discrepancies in their narrative.
