Turkey says signal has been lost with a jet carrying the Libyan army chief and four other people.

In a post on X, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya states this occurred at 20:52 local time (17:52 GMT), roughly 42 minutes after the Falcon 50 business jet departed from Ankara's airport.

The minister confirmed that Libya's chief of staff, Gen Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, was on board the aircraft, which was en route to Tripoli.

According to reports, the jet issued an emergency landing request before communication was severed.
