Pop star Lizzo is celebrating a legal victory after a judge dismissed allegations of fat-shaming from a 2023 lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers.
The singer, known for her body-positive anthems, took to Instagram and TikTok to express her relief over the development.
There was no evidence that I fired them because they gained weight, Lizzo stated, noting that the dismissals were related to an incident involving former employees breaching her privacy.
While the fat-shaming allegations were dropped, the lawsuit continues concerning claims of sexual harassment by the dancers, who allege they were pressured into attending inappropriate shows and interacting with performers.
Lizzo's team has criticized the lawsuit as a fabricated sob story, while asserting that testimonies from 18 witnesses support her claims that the dancers' allegations are unfounded.
Amid the ongoing legal battles, Lizzo reaffirmed her stance against the claims made against her, stating she will continue to fight for her reputation and the truth.
In a poignant closing to her announcement, she shared how the fat-shaming claims have haunted her for the past two years and emphasized her commitment to supporting and uplifting larger body types in her professional career.
