At a recent event at the University of Mississippi hosted by Turning Point USA, Vice President JD Vance advocated for a significant reduction in legal immigration numbers, stating, We have to get the overall numbers way, way down. Vance refrained from providing a specific number during a Q&A session, criticizing former President Joe Biden's immigration policies for allowing too many entries into the U.S. and threatening social cohesion.

Vance articulated the necessity for a singular societal identity in the U.S., asserting, When something like that happens, you’ve got to allow your own society to cohere a little bit, to build a sense of common identity, signaling the importance of assimilation for immigrants.

In addition to immigration issues, Vance passionately spoke against U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, praising Donald Trump’s Middle East diplomacy, while noting the current military pressure being applied in Venezuela. During the session, he also addressed the concern amongst conservatives regarding the power that presidential administration can wield, suggesting that they should not fear actions that might be used against them in future political landscapes. We cannot be afraid to do something because the left might do it in the future, he stated, encouraging a firm stance against leftist practices.

Vance was introduced by Erika Kirk, the widow of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who emphasized the importance of young conservatives standing strong in their beliefs amidst social challenges, likening her appearance on campus to a spiritual reclamation of territory.
