At least 20 Palestinians, including several children and a paramedic, have been killed and almost 40 others wounded in Israeli strikes in Gaza, hospitals say.

The Israeli military stated that tanks and aircraft conducted precise strikes against what it labeled terrorists who opened fire on troops in the northern region, seriously injuring an officer.

This incident occurred near the Yellow Line, beyond which Israeli forces are stationed, constituting a blatant violation of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas that has been in place for three months.

Hamas accused Israel of exploiting the incident as a flimsy pretext to continue its aggression towards the Palestinian population.

Al-Shifa hospital reported that it received 13 bodies, including five children, who perished when strikes hit tents and homes in the eastern Zeitoun and Tuffah neighborhoods.

Among the mourners was Abu Mohammed Haboush, who expressed deep sorrow, stating, Our children were martyred - my son was martyred, my brother's son and daughter were martyred. We are peaceful people.

Nasser hospital in Khan Younis confirmed that four fatalities, including a child, were received following strikes in the southern Qizan Rashwan area. Additionally, two children and a paramedic were killed in the coastal al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis following subsequent strikes.

The paramedic, Hussein al-Samiri, reportedly died after rushing to aid victims of an earlier strike, leading to accusations from the Palestinian Red Crescent of grave violations of humanitarian laws that protect medical personnel.

The IDF asserted that the attack in al-Mawasi targeted a known Hamas commander involved in prior assaults, while they acknowledged that civilian casualties occurred, stating steps were taken to mitigate harm.

This tragic escalation of violence follows a conflict-triggered by a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, with ongoing confrontations leading to heavy casualties on both sides. The situation in Gaza has reported over 71,820 deaths, according to health sources, with continued military engagement fundamentally shaping regional stability.
