Prince Harry Faces Bullying Allegations Following Charity Resignation

Following Prince Harry's resignation from his role as patron of the charity Sentebale, chair Sophie Chandauka has accused him of bullying in an attempt to oust her. The situation escalates as she claims Harry's actions could severely impact the organization.

An escalating conflict has emerged between Prince Harry and Sophie Chandauka, the chair of the charity Sentebale, which the prince co-founded. Chandauka has publicly accused Harry of bullying and harassment aimed at forcing her out of her position. Her allegations follow Harry's recent resignation from his patron role within the organization, which he announced after claiming that the relationship between the charity’s board and Chandauka had deteriorated to an irreparable state.

In her interview with Sky News, Chandauka expressed the profound impact of Harry's resignation on both herself and the many individuals associated with Sentebale—540 employees and their families, she noted. “Can you imagine what that attack has done for me, on me?” she declared, labeling the ordeal an instance of bullying at a substantial scale.

As a co-founder of Sentebale in 2006, Harry's mission has been to honor his mother, Princess Diana, by offering support to young people affected by the HIV pandemic in Lesotho. In recent years, the charity has expanded its initiatives to Botswana and addresses various issues facing youth, including substance abuse, gender-based violence, and climate challenges.

Following Harry’s resignation, which coincided with the departure of five out of nine board members in a single week, the future of the charity appears uncertain. A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan Markle has refrained from commenting on the allegations put forth by Chandauka during the Sky News program “Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips.” The rupture in Sentebale's executive leadership raises questions about the charity's direction amid the ongoing upheaval.
