A 33-year-old man has been charged with terrorism offenses in London following an attempt to gain access to the Israeli Embassy while armed with a knife. The Metropolitan Police reported on Wednesday that Abdullah Sabah Albadri was apprehended after being observed trying to enter the embassy grounds shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday.
Police intervened swiftly, arresting Albadri on suspicions of a public order offense, unauthorized trespass on a designated site, and possession of an offensive weapon. He was subsequently taken into custody at a London police station, where investigations led to additional charges under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006—a measure targeting individuals accused of preparing or attempting acts of terrorism.
In addition to the terrorism charge, Albadri faces two counts of possessing a bladed article. He remains in custody with a court hearing scheduled for later in the day.
Dominic Murphy, head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, assured that there are no further suspects connected to this incident and confirmed that there is no broader threat to public safety. The Israeli Embassy, located in Kensington, expressed gratitude towards the British security forces for their prompt action in preventing what they classified as an attempted terror attack and affirmed that all staff and visitors remained safe during the event.
