Late Wednesday afternoon, a 32‑year‑old woman was stabbed to death in Times Square, New York City, by a female suspect who wielded two knives. Two victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital, with the woman and the suspect dying at the scene; a third victim was left in stable condition. Police officers attempted to calm the suspect for four minutes, telling her she would not drop her weapons and threatening to kill them. When the suspect waved knives toward the officers, Tasers were ineffective, leading to the officer‑involved shooting that killed the suspect.

The suspect was identified as 49‑year‑old Pamela Cisneros of Queens. While never arrested, she had a documented mental‑health history with the NYPD, including incidents in 2018 and 2019. A Boston tourist, Melinda Puzon, witnessed the shots and described the scene as "very shocking."
