American forces resumed strikes on Iran on Tuesday, US Central Command said.
The command blamed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for new attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and on American service members. US forces began striking Iranian targets at 12:00 ET (16:00 GMT).
Iranian state media noted that four projectiles hit the Chabahar and Konarak counties, with additional explosions reported on Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas and Konarak. The IRGC warned that US strikes would be regretted and threatened decisive retaliation.
President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes as “large and powerful” and linked them to earlier Iranian missile launches at a US base in Jordan. He warned that any Iranian retaliation would invite a significantly harder response.
The offensive is the first known US military strike on Iran since late July, when forces attacked two rocket launchers on Larak Island. The escalating situation deepens risks for regional maritime security and international stability.
