JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. — Tiger Woods was arrested Friday after a car crash in Florida, marking at least his fourth auto-related incident and the second time he has faced driving under the influence charges. Witnesses reported that Woods showed signs of impairment, and he struck another vehicle before rolling his Land Rover not far from his residence. Initial tests conducted on-site indicated no alcohol presence; however, he refused to take a blood or urine test following the crash.
Woods has been charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, both misdemeanors, according to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
This is not the first time Woods has faced such legal hurdles. In 2017, he was found asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle parked in traffic with damage on the driver’s side. At that time, he indicated he had mixed prescription medications leading to what he called a bad reaction. He pled guilty to reckless driving and completed a DUI offender program, which allowed him to continue his professional career after this serious breach.
In another alarming incident, Woods survived a severe rollover crash in February 2021. That crash, which occurred at high speeds on a winding road, nearly cost him his leg and left him with multiple injuries. Medical reports stated that he had suffered serious damage to his tibia and fibula and had to undergo extensive rehabilitation after being bedridden for months.
These recurring incidents have brought Woods' driving habits into scrutiny and have posed ongoing challenges in his personal and professional life, even as he attempts to rejuvenate his career in golf.
