Pilot Caught Smuggling 70,000 Ecstasy Pills at Indonesian Airport

CCTV footage released on Monday made the world aware of an astonishing smuggling attempt. A Malaysian pilot was detained at Jakarta international airport after authorities discovered a silver suitcase containing the equivalent of four stone – or roughly 26kg – of ecstasy pills.

When the pill-filled bags were bagged by airport officers, the pilot explained that he had been paid around £9,000 for the operation. The pilot was reportedly under the influence when he was arrested, leaving security personnel to face a high‑risk drug trafficking operation.
