New York – Nicole Daedone, the controversial leader of OneTaste Inc., a wellness company known for promoting ‘orgasmic meditation,’ was sentenced to nine years in federal prison on charges of forced labor. The sentencing took place in Brooklyn, where federal prosecutors emphasized the emotional and psychological harm her actions caused to numerous victims.

Prosecutors argued in court filings that Daedone's actions had left many financially devastated and emotionally scarred, seeking a harsher 20-year sentence. They described a systematic exploitation involving economic pressure, psychological manipulation, and physical and emotional abuse.

In contrast, Daedone's defense team argued for leniency, suggesting a two-year sentence would be more appropriate. They highlighted her lack of a criminal record and the support she received from over 200 character witnesses, including prominent figures like CNN’s Van Jones and actor Richard Schiff, who praised her commitment to healing and empowerment.

The trial revealed a shocking narrative where Daedone and her co-conspirators allegedly groomed vulnerable women, many dealing with past sexual trauma, to engage in objectionable acts for the company’s supposed principles. The coercive environment downplayed personal boundaries under the guise of promoting freedom and enlightenment.

Daedone co-founded OneTaste in 2004, positioning it as a platform for women's sexual wellness. The company's flagship practice involved men stimulating women to achieve ‘orgasmic meditation’ in group settings, a concept that garnered attention and media acclaim throughout the 2010s.

After selling her stake for $12 million in 2017, Daedone's business practices drew scrutiny, leading to the current federal charges against her and former associates. Following the convictions, the company rebranded itself as the Institute of OM Foundation, attempting to distance itself from the negative allegations against its prior management.
