South Carolina’s political scene is facing an abrupt shift following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham on Saturday morning. Officials announced that his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, will serve as his temporary replacement until the end of his term in 2027.
Governor Henry McMaster publicly welcomed Nordone as “the darling little sister” who would “finish Lindsey’s work” and praised the family bond that flourished when the elder Graham adopted her after their parents died.
Nordone, a mother of two who has dedicated her career to helping people with disabilities find employment, shared that Lindsey’s passing is a fit tribute to a man who “never married or had children.” She said she intends to honor his legacy by serving in his stead.
