FBI officers have detained a woman aged 35 accused of planning a bomb attack on the New York State Capitol in Albany. She reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and provided evidence of material support to the extremist group.
Investigators say the suspect engaged in repeated surveillance of the building and was supplied by undercover agents with a fake bomb and a defective firearm. She allegedly expressed a desire to "destroy as much of the building as possible and kill the senators" in a recorded conversation with agents.
During the sting, agents paid the suspect a fee of roughly $200 to purchase nails at a local hardware store, claiming the nails would serve as shrapnel. A DoD image of a DoorDash bag used in the plot was also documented in the charging file.
Social media records show the suspect used platforms to post anti‑American messages and praised the 9‑11 attacks. She has been banned from several services for violating their terms of service, according to the charging documents.
State Governor Kathy Hochul publicly thanked the FBI and state police for their work in preventing the alleged attack, stressing the importance of reinforced security at state government sites.
