At least 104 Palestinians were killed in a wave of Israeli strikes in Gaza on Tuesday night, the territory's Hamas-run health ministry says.
The Israeli military stated it struck 'dozens of terror targets and terrorists' in response to violations by Hamas of a US-brokered ceasefire agreement.
Israel's defence minister accused Hamas of an attack in Gaza that killed an Israeli soldier and of breaching terms concerning the return of deceased hostages' bodies. Hamas denied connection to the attack, asserting that Israel was attempting to undermine the ceasefire agreement.
US President Donald Trump stated that 'nothing' would jeopardize the ceasefire, although he asserted that Israel should retaliate against attacks on its soldiers.
The Israeli strikes targeted homes, schools, and residential buildings across Gaza City, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis, leading witnesses to report visible explosions and rising smoke. Casualty reports from Gaza's health ministry indicated that 104 people were killed, including 46 children and 20 women, with over 250 injured.
In various neighborhoods, families mourned their losses, with heartbreaking accounts of lives cut short and homes destroyed. The assault raises serious concerns about the viability of the ceasefire agreement.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have vowed to uphold the ceasefire but warned of firm responses to any violations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed retaliatory actions against Hamas for their alleged transgressions.
As the hostilities escalate, the international community, including the UN, has urged both sides to exercise restraint and pursue peace.
