A Palestinian man has been killed and others seriously injured in separate settler attacks in the occupied West Bank. Locals report a rise in the establishment of unauthorized settler outposts in areas where the Palestinian Authority is supposed to have full control.

Settler violence has surged since the start of the recent US-Israeli war on Iran, resulting in multiple deaths. Mohammad al-Malhi was shot in the head near Bethlehem by settlers after a new outpost was set up on his family’s land. The situation escalated when the Israeli army attempted to dismantle the outpost but withdrew, allowing settlers to return and rebuild.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the incident occurred during clashes between settlers and Palestinians. In addition to one fatality, several others sustained injuries.

A video has surfaced showing a separate incident where a 75-year-old man was assaulted in his home after settlers raided his village. The rise in violence mirrors patterns observed during the Gaza war ignited by attacks from Hamas, alongside a record growth in Israeli settlements.

The Israeli government has retroactively legalized several outposts recently established, which are deemed illegal by international law. Despite ongoing tensions, settlement expansion continues in the West Bank, where approximately 700,000 Israelis currently reside alongside 3.3 million Palestinians, exacerbating the long-standing conflict in the region.
