Nway Oo Myaung, a pro‑democracy rebel, told AFP that the victims included 11 men and three women, 5 from one village and 9 from a neighbouring township. He added that the deceased were aged between 50 and 70.
Another unnamed opposition fighter said he had been among those searching for survivors when the aircraft delivered the second bombing run.
Myanmar has been in civil war since the military staged a coup in 2021, and has been under martial rule since. The army routinely faces accusations of targeting public buildings, though it insists it only strikes legitimate targets.
