Instead, actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, known for his work in "Fargo," will step into the character's shoes.
Frankie Muniz is confirmed to return as the titular character Malcolm, joined by his on-screen parents—played by Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston. Kaczmarek commented on Sullivan's absence, noting that he has moved on from acting, stating, "He wasn’t interested in acting, at all." Utilizing his childhood fame, Sullivan has taken a different route, now a 33-year-old studying Victorian literature at a prestigious university, with a focus on classic authors like Charles Dickens.
