Rescue operations are currently underway in the Red Sea following the sinking of the tourist boat Sea Story, which occurred during a diving trip from a port near Marsa Alam. The vessel had a total of 45 individuals on board, comprising 31 tourists and 14 crew members, when it sent a distress signal around 5:30 AM local time on Saturday. The boat, measuring 44 meters in length, reportedly capsized in the Wadi el-Gemal area, located south of Marsa Alam.

Officials from the Red Sea Governorate, including Maj-Gen Amr Hanafi, confirmed that several survivors have already been located and transferred via aircraft to ensure they receive prompt medical attention. Additional survivors are awaiting rescue by an Egyptian warship.

As emergency services and naval units remain engaged in operations to find the remaining missing individuals, the authorities are focusing efforts on both air and sea searches. Meanwhile, concerns are mounting, amplified by previous incidents such as the recent fire on another vessel that left three British nationals missing. The ongoing situation serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with maritime excursions in the region.
