Her actions were met with outrage nationwide, leading Australia's Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke to signal a review of her visa status, suggesting potential revocation.
Upon learning of her departure, Burke humorously noted, "There has never been a better time to be a baby wombat." The incident drew swift condemnation from a range of public figures, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong, both characterizing Jones's actions as an "outrage" and "dreadful."
