The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has urged Palestinians to evacuate Gaza City, relocating to what it calls a humanitarian zone in the south as it continues its military offensive in the territory.

On Saturday, for a second consecutive day, the Israeli military destroyed a high-rise block, the Sussi Tower, in the enclave's largest urban area.

Defence Minister Israel Katz shared video footage of the building's collapse on social media, confirming the continuation of military action. However, casualties from the latest destruction were not immediately clear.

Israeli officials claim that the tower was being utilized by Hamas, while the militant group denies such allegations.

Prior to the demolition of Sussi Tower, the IDF dropped leaflets advising residents to evacuate, as they encouraged civilians to seek refuge in a designated humanitarian area known as al-Mawasi.

The IDF assured that medical care and supplies would be available in the south, yet reports from the United Nations indicate that the shelter camps are overcrowded and unsafe.

This attack follows the demolition of Mushtaha Tower just a day earlier, raising further concerns about the implications of Israel's ongoing military campaign.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared intentions to secure full control of the Gaza Strip following the breakdown of indirect peace talks with Hamas.

With almost one million individuals still residing in Gaza City, the UN has recently warned of an imminent humanitarian disaster if the current offensive persists.

The current military operations stem from a devastating attack by Hamas on southern Israel in October 2023, resulting in significant casualties and the ongoing humanitarian crisis within Gaza.
