Zou Zhenhao faces sentencing as police uncover a shocking number of victims connected to his crimes.
A 28-year-old Chinese student, Zou Zhenhao, is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of drugging and raping at least 10 women in London and his home province in China. The case has drawn significant attention from authorities, as senior police officials label him "one of the most prolific predators" encountered in the investigations.
The police investigation, spanning attacks from September 2019 to May 2023, has revealed alarming evidence linked to Zou's crimes, including recorded videos of his assaults. Police estimate that there may be as many as 50 additional victims whose identities remain unknown due to the compromising nature of his acts. Zou reportedly used a combination of drugs to incapacitate his victims, potentially leaving some of them with no memory of the incidents.
Originating from Dongguan in Guangdong Province, Zou was studying mechanical engineering at University College London during the time of the attacks. His victims were typically women he interacted with via student networks as well as social media and dating platforms.
Commander Kevin Southworth of the Metropolitan Police emphasized the tragic reality that some victims caught on tape may never be located, stating that the quality of the footage may hinder identification efforts. Following Zou's conviction, law enforcement has made public appeals for potential additional victims to come forward, indicating ongoing concerns about the scale of his predatory actions.
