The UK government has announced its intention to formally designate the activist group Palestine Action as a terrorist organization. This decision comes after the group's recent vandalism at a military air base and President Trump's golf resort, marking a significant legal precedent.

UK to Classify Palestine Action as Terrorist Organization Following Vandalism Incident
The British government plans to outlaw Palestine Action as a terrorist group after a series of criminal acts, including vandalism at a military air base.
The British government is gearing up to officially label the pro-Palestinian group, Palestine Action, as a terrorist organization. This announcement follows a series of high-profile actions, including an incident on Friday where members of the group broke into a military airbase, and a previous act of vandalism in March at Trump's Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.
Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, stated that a legal formal request to ban Palestine Action would be submitted to Parliament on June 30. She emphasized that the group had led an "orchestrated nationwide campaign of direct criminal action" against various defense companies, which, in her view, jeopardized national security. According to Cooper, the group's activities fulfilled the legal criteria for terrorism due to the "serious damage to property."
Palestine Action is set to join a list of over 80 organizations banned as terrorist entities by the UK government, a roster that includes notable groups such as the Islamic State, Hamas, and Al Qaeda, in addition to domestic extremist groups.
Jonathan Hall, the government's top adviser on terrorism legislation, noted that this designation is unprecedented in the UK as it marks the first instance where a group is being proscribed based solely on property damage, rather than direct violence or support for violent acts. He highlighted that the group's targeting of a military air force base had pushed their actions into the "zone of national security" and served as a pivotal moment for the government’s decision.
