Disgraced Maui Police Chief Under Scrutiny Following DUI Allegations

Maui Police Chief John Pelletier, already under investigation for misconduct and linked to a lawsuit involving Sean 'Diddy' Combs, has found himself at the center of a possible DUI scandal following a car accident on Sunday.

Disgraced Maui Police Chief John Pelletier has added to his controversies with a car accident near his Wailuku residence. According to the Maui News, the chief reported no injuries after the incident. However, independent journalist Jeni of ‘Connect the Dots with Jeni’ alerted the public to allegations of a potential coverup regarding his sobriety.

Pelletier is currently embroiled in serious accusations, including connections to sex trafficking surrounding Combs, who is facing a federal trial in New York. Throughout his tenure as the police chief, Pelletier has faced multiple complaints regarding alleged misconduct, harassment, and threats toward other officers.

Reports suggest that Pelletier was drinking with colleagues before his vehicle ended up in a ditch after he allegedly drove while intoxicated. Eyewitness accounts from Jeni reveal that a patrol officer was present to administer a breathalyzer but was loudly instructed by other officers not to proceed with the test. A tow truck subsequently arrived to retrieve Pelletier's vehicle from the ditch.

"Pelletier seemed to be in denial, attempting to deflect blame for the crash onto his vehicle, claiming technical faults such as a recall and faulty brakes. However, data retrieved from the vehicle’s black box indicated that the incident was entirely due to him accelerating,” Jeni reported.

As the investigation unfolds, Maui Mayor Bissen and several public representatives have called for Pelletier's immediate leave from duty, a request he has resisted, defying established protocols. Misgivings surrounding the Maui Police Commission’s protection of Pelletier amid ongoing complaints continue to grow, calling into question the authority's reluctance to hold him accountable.
