**International Health Agency Demands Protection and Immediate Release of Detained Staff Amid Rising Humanitarian Crisis**

**The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned Israeli strikes on its facilities in central Gaza, emphasizing the severe implications for health services as civilian casualties escalate. Reports indicate significant malnutrition among the population amidst ongoing military operations.**

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed deep condemnation of Israeli military actions that have targeted its facilities in central Gaza, claiming these assaults have severely hindered the agency's capacity to provide humanitarian aid. In an official statement, the WHO accused Israeli forces of attacking a staff residence in Deir al-Balah, wherein personnel and vulnerable individuals were reportedly mistreated. Furthermore, an essential warehouse belonging to the organization was destroyed in the assaults.

On Monday, the agency highlighted that one of its employees, who was detained during the incident, remains in custody, prompting a demand for their immediate release. The Israeli military, however, justified the operation by stating it aimed to detain individuals suspected of terrorist activities in the region, affirming that most detainees were subsequently released.

Despite evacuations mandated by the Israeli military, which displaced tens of thousands of civilians in Deir al-Balah, the UN has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a presence in the area while calling for enhanced protection of its staff. The escalating conflict has led to dire humanitarian consequences, with Gaza's health ministry reporting that 33 individuals—12 of whom were children—died within 48 hours from malnutrition, further raising alarm about a looming hunger crisis.

In response to ongoing hostilities, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that their operations were concentrated on crippling enemy capabilities. However, the WHO argues this offensively contributes to a broader trend of disregarding health infrastructure in conflict-affected areas.

Casualties among civilians continue to mount as Israeli tank movements intensify in Deir al-Balah, with reports of deaths resulting from shellfire and airstrikes on shelters. The UN's humanitarian office has noted a severe deterioration in living conditions, with essential services collapsing and over 87% of Gaza now falling under Israeli evacuation orders or militarized zones.

Asma Mustafa, a teacher and mother, conveyed the despair faced by displaced families, stating, "Clean water is a dream. The wounded are left to bleed without treatment," illustrating the gravity of the humanitarian crisis evolving in Gaza.

The international community has increasingly criticized the ongoing conflict, with voices such as French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot advocating for unobstructed media access to Gaza to document the unfolding situation firsthand. As the fighting continues, calls for accountability and protection of civilians are more pressing than ever, as over 59,000 individuals have reportedly lost their lives since the onset of renewed violence.
